SUNDAY, JULY 10
It is a real joy for me to be writing to you in this edition of the ImmanueLight. Even greater is my joy to be a member of such a wonderful church. These are but two of the milestones along my path, since I made a decision to follow Jesus. Each day bears new challenges, opportunities, and an occasional setback, but inner happiness and peace are the products of a daily walk with our Lord.
A recent NBC/Time Magazine poll states that 63% of Americans place money
atop the list of requirements insuring happiness. However,
a panel of wealthy men did not list money as a requirement at all.
This panel included Sam Walton, William Randolph Hearst, and John D. Rockefeller.
Their combined formula to insure happiness:
This is remarkably accurate in the life of our church. Immanuel has always been known as a friendly church. That outpouring of support and Christian love drew me here.
There is always something to do in any church. Who could guess that I would be Interim Children and Youth Leader when I have been a member for just over a year. There’s nothing remarkable in finding opportunities to serve. Sunday School and our Adult Choir are only two of the areas that are constantly recruiting.
I look forward to great experiences with our youth and children. Vacation Bible School and LifeChangers have come and gone, but the summer activities are far from over. Terrific Tuesdays (grades 1 through 6) and Thrilling Thursdays (grades 7 through 12) will continue until school starts. SeeSalt Youth Conference is just around the corner (July 25-29) . We also have a trip planned to Lookout Lodge (August 1 through 4). Finally, our Great Yard Sale is August 6!
That’s plenty to look forward to.
I’m sure you will agree. All the requirements for happiness are right here at Immanuel Baptist Church. It’s miraculous! That happiness is eternal.
Parents, please encourage your children and youth to take advantage of
all that Immanuel offers them. What better way to mold a young person’s
life than through involvement in a solid foundation found only in Christ
